This is the age when distant stars come into reach.
Yet we seem to be constantly drifting apart
From each other. There is no real communion.
Nobody really seems to listen anymore.
For we are so distracted by bright gadgets,
This is an age of instant 'communication' &
Instant disposability. This is the age where
Everyone is entitled to voice their opinion.
Yet freedom of expression does not seem
To be accompanied by a sense of responsibility.
There are many who spew out their thoughts
Like crude grafitti; they lack nuanced language.
This an age of abundant, accessible information.
This is the age of increasingly complex technology.
Yet this is an age lacking in profound wisdom.
This is the age where love is for sale in the
Postmodern marketplace. This is a cynical age,
This is the age of narcissism: where everyone
Eventually, will have their fifteen minutes of fame.
This is an age that lacks coherent frames of reference.
Well said, well written, well observed and extremely well presented. Dominic there is good and bad in all modern technology, it's how to deal with it, what to accept and what to reject..... For will this latest cold and linear, shiny, hideously expensive and by next month soon to be outdated new gizmo improve my vain, social standing. Clearly no. 10++ and thanks for sharing your thoughts. Life and some people can be hard and mean, but, not al the time.

Thanks for your comments Shaun yes I'm very aware that modern technology is very much a double edged sword. However, since around 2001 I've noticed a marked decline in the quality of human communication. I find it paradoxical that we now have very advanced technologies to help facilitate communication all over the world, yet there seems to be a sense that it has becoming increasingly facile.
