Great poets have written so well on dogs. They are true friends.
Silence is the real language...in it communication happens......
I like this. Man is just as dumb as the dog. Neither reallu knows what is going on.
Wonderful portrait of the relations between the dog and the poet.
Great poem written in persuasive poetic expressions with artistic brilliance.
Among the whole creation What is the true status of man....This is amazing
Every morning this dog, very attached to me, Quietly keeps sitting near my seat Till touching its head I recognize its company-dog is the best friend of man..beautifully addressed.
Every morning, my dog comes and sits near my feet. He likes company. He likes to be touched, patted and feels happy. Among all animals only this creature understands man beyond all the evil and good in him. For love he will sacrifice himself. He will love for the sake of love and show to the world what true love is. When I see his deep devotion his offering of himself, I fail to understand why he does it. He must have learnt somehow what truth lies deep in man. By his silent anxious looks he cannot tell us what he knows. But he has convinced me he knows the true nature of man.
The relationship between man and dog began thousands of years ago and this poem captures the essence of it.
Very nicely expressed the feeling of a dog, the best friend of humans.
Well, I love my cat, but it's the same, it's much different at the appearance, but boyh ask for, and give affection.
Tagore always impresses me the most with his strong ending verses in his poems. For the last verse in this poem, it really does say a lot, on how dogs instincts on a person's nature are most often correct. I found it beautiful the way he summed up man and dogs relationship in such a vulnerable way, like how fine of a line it is to a dogs heart, you are either bad or good, black or white.
I used to think poetry sucked even though I never tried to understand it. 'The fool doesn't care whether he understands a thing or not; all he cares is to show how clever he is' Proverbs 18: 2. God gives wisdom through His word indeed. I like this poem, because Rabindranath is describing something I have noticed, and I'm pretty sure we all have, that a dog is lean to adore us somehow. And we, humanity, must appear like gods to this creatures. 'God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.' Genesis 1: 27
In the subtle but sweet manner the poet has turned the ode on a dog to something that leads to the prception of mankind.
