Thirst for life
at last, I was caged in a ward
awaiting anxious moments, many blood tests were done
bp readings, ECG, eco Doppler and what not,
I was shaved making me an egg
ready for a bypass surgery
bathed with an antiseptic gel
got ready at dawn entrusting me with chief surgeon
creaking wheels outside they arrived
in a blue uniform to take me
In a sky blue inpatient unfit outfit, I was rolled away
I am pushed into a wheeled stretcher
my nametag, patient I'd strapped on my wrist
adding another numeric to my life
masked men pushed me away to a theatre hub,
many operations are done there at a time
my Doc put his long palm on my forehead
murmured and smiled.
don't worry I will take good care of you
they confirmed my name repeatedly asking me
put me under flood lamp over the operation table
a hot blower was underneath warming me
an anaesthetic injection took me off.
memory faded went blank
my pumping station opened
SIX hours of diversion between life and death
bypassed traffic block
the smooth flow of blood
all through my jammed blood vessels
Veins from my leg are resting in my ventricle
turned me into a spider
hanging in an open ventilator
the catheter and many tubes attached
my lungs connected to a machine
was breathing through a big tube
body system was connected to a web
like a cockpit, many dials flashlights
busy hub in an airport radar tower with IL S
by evening I landed to a new dawn
found my wife's beautiful relieved smile
beckoning to new dawn full of cosmic music
the rhythm of fresh beat thirst for life
