These Days 8 Poem by DM W

These Days 8

Rating: 5.0

These days, this shrinking world appears so near.
Yet in many ways, it's still out of reach.
Virtual realms contain myriad fears.
No- one can grasp a million silent screams.
Money moves around at a lightning speed;
Instant communication at the press
Of a button or key. Yet no -one seems
To listen to one another. I guess
Social media takes much of the blame.
People post endless trivialities.
Nothing's really unique; it's all the same
Are we liberated by technology?
Or are we merely being played like pawns?
Are we truly free? Will there be a new
Dawn for troubled humanity. The flaws
In the current, crude system are all too
Apparent. They are now stealing our dreams.
No -one can grasp a million silent screams.

Dominic there are two things I fear with today's technology... How reliant on it we are and the frightening advancements with Artificial Intelligence on a monthly basis. The United States Air Force were debating to use thought released missiles for a quicker reaction time under combat conditions but scrapped it, for said missile could be targeted to a wingman in peacetime if dark thoughts entered that pilots head. And that was decades ago. Five stars and thanks for sharing.

Beautiful poem. Personally i feel we are better now with info tech. No one should really feel alone. You can virtually come to Zim chat and be in Brama Putrah in no time. Of course there are side effects because nature abhors a vacuum.

Thanks for all your comments guys. I'd like to add that I think technology; especially the internet is very much a double - edged sword so to speak.
