This is another short poem that speaks eloquently to those of us who are old and getting older. Where else can we go than deeper into age? I remember reading THE SUN ALSO RISES by Hemingway when I was only 19 and loving it. In the opening scene, in fact, in the first lines of the novel, one of the characters tells the narrator how dismayed he is to be turning 40! And I agreed - 40 seemed to be so old! I don't have to spell out the irony. But we can take consolation from the book's title, which is an OLD TESTAMENT quotation, and possibly means there will always be time enough for our endeavors. I hope that is the meaning.
