These Amateurs... Poem by DM W

These Amateurs...

Rating: 5.0

These amateurs are like fleeting shadows,
Here today, gone tomorrow. I prefer
To bask in the profound, inspiring glow
Of eternal poetic truths. They're rare,
But heart-warming. They do not seek applause.
They don't follow the fashions of the times.
They simply radiate without a pause.
They contain rich symbols not paltry signs.

The poem gets the top rating of 5 from me. I also recommend this poem to be selected as the 'Member Poem of the Day'!

Hi Khairul..thanks for your comments, much appreciated. These amateurs refers to performance poets (interested in stle/ fashion, rather than substance) in my local area who, to quote Shakespeare are invariably, ' full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.' Fortunately, I no longer have anything to do with them
