This poem is my favourite among Sara Teasdale's poems. An anti-war poem, most effectively rendered.

ONE: In this poem the poetess engages with themes of nature and conflict. The latter, conflict, is mentioned in the seventh line of the poem when the poet talks about "war."

TWO: It alludes to the fact that nature, from birds to trees, don't know and don't care about human conflict.

Words of wisdom. Who will ever bother, in this vast universe, if a life is gone. Neither a bird or a tree will notice it.

Not one would mind, neither bird nor tree, If mankind perished utterly; And Spring herself, when she woke at dawn Would scarcely know that we were gone.

No one would mind, neither bird nor tree, If mankind were to perish completely, this poem is written, with the words in it, since Sarah never had good health

" ...And frogs in the pools singing at night, And wild plum trees in tremulous white; Robins will wear their feathery fire, Whistling their whims on a low fence-wire; ..." what a resonance...! it emits a fine flavour.. Loved it... Thanks
