The Woods Never Tell Poem by Evelyn Judy Buehler

The Woods Never Tell

Someplace deep within are lovers,
Where the trilling songbird hovers.
Here the place enraptured meet,
Completely engulfed by the heat.

Shadows, crickets, grass and flowers,
Deeply strange and hidden bowers.
Here long has silence crept,
Long here time has slept.

Here the place for fantasy-
Dark and secret rhapsody.
Murky shadows know no sin-
Where one goes, where one's been.

'Neath the oak and tangled vine,
Where does nature draw a line?
Suddenly are two become as one.
Oh, lovers, what have you done?

Hearts must flee; secrets hide!
Keep from the world what burns inside.
So tragic when the truth must die;
And two lives become a lie.

Oh in truth they can always merge! darkness gone, one light, after the purge
