I will always love this poem! .. A Million Stars and Beyond! .. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++Dear Susan
you and your comments give me such a huge lift! ! ! ! thank you, dear friend
Lovely opening two lines, 'The mourning dove/visual manna from heaven above'. A great poem of value and substance. To favorite.
Susan, I apologize for my dad. He has a habit of deleting his comments, so his comment no longer shows up here. Sorry.
Such a heart-warming and inspirational poem. Susan, you have been blessed with this special message from God. And you truly deserve this comfort! We should all be very grateful to have such like-minded poets who have the courage to express such faith. Thank you so much for sharing this gift with us.
Richard, thank you for these encouraging and uplifting words. You keep me airborne!
Somehow your beautiful comment seems to have escaped notice until now... although I feel that it is familiar to me. Perhaps PH lost my reply? ? ? I mean, really, would they, could they, do such a thing? ? ? ;)
Thank you for the comment--yes, it was difficult to express my faith but the more I do so the easier it has become---and this response to it makes it so much easier in the future!
I am glad you see this as a gift--I think that is that is the most wonderful thing that could be said about a poem...
Susan, I like the grace in 'message imprinted' in this poem. I often watch the doves feeding from a feeder. Their wings beat out a warning in unison when startled. QtR
My goodness! This comment has been hiding from me for a long long time! ! ! I apologize--I didn't see it till just now.
Part 2. You write such beautiful poetically expressed comments! ! ! Doves are such beautiful birds, aren't they?
I apologize for not seeing this comment and replying sooner. I value the input from my fellow poets and thank you for taking the time to read and comment, Quoth theRaven. Er, perhaps the doves you watch eating and fly away are worried about the presence of a raven? ? ? ! ! ! hehehe
Robert, this really happened. The imprint of that wing and a portion of her body remained on my window until last year. There's more to be written and perhaps one day I will bring myself to do so. Thank you for fav-ing this- -the event had a huge impact on me.
A feather etched in dust on the glass... I liked this write - I often stop on a walk just to listen to this lonesome birds song - thank you for this
You know then the draw of that this bird can have on the human senses and heart- thank you for responding
very powerful images here has used by the professional poet, if the crow symbolised the past to Edgar Allan Poe, here the dove is a metaphoric aspect of life for Susan...today 100+++ cheers
WoW! ! ! ! Thank you so much for these kind words, Soran. And also for that flock of 100+ starry 10's! ! ! ! !
I can't find you- -not even when I type your name in the search box. Maybe PH is experiencing difficulties- I will try again tomorrow.
Loved the poem, especially these lines - like the image of a heartfelt prayer the left wing of the dove, each feather etched in dust on the glass. How touching!
Thank you and I am pleased you enjoyed it so much. The dust image lasted for several years till my husband decided to clean the entire window!
Can't ever say enough how movingly this speaks! .. Thank you for sharing! .. Ever so many 10S! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! +++++ Looks like we're able to rate again, Thankfully :)
Thank you for enjoying this true story and all those sparkling 10's- -I am so glad to see the voting booth has been set up in front of the 3 million ads! ! !
Magnificent poetry dear friend. I can't wait to read this poem time and again. Stay blessed.
