Beside our house a sentinel stands
 Over your ceramic chaise lounge
It holds you safe and sound
 Dampens all worldly noise
 Slows your heartbeat
 Feeds your soul

Rooftop shadows fall from our house
As the sun ebbs lower still lower
 The pond throws diamonds
At the willow in the dusk
 White sparkles light
 The claw foot tub

A shower curtain of leafy branches
Frame you, they don't obscure you
 Light shows some movement
 But shadows hide your arm
 The brush in your hand
 Glides through hair

By the cold of the pond I watch you
 Enjoying this moment in time
 Slowly combing your locks
 An occasional sip of wine
 Kicking off your shoes
 Beginning to unwind

I am so wet, even my skin drips
 Numbness climbs my forearm
My spine argues with a rock
 Everything tells me move
Yet I am frozen in place
 I'm in awe of you

And I'm enjoying this moment in time
