stanza four is my favorite, of course. please explain 'wet noodle' here, or isn't there a good explanation. I think 'noodle' is (also) used as slang for brain/mind/head. ?

be glad you didn't lose it in Timbuktu. I searched of 'u.s. marines in Timbuktu. but failed in my search. It's in Mali in Africa and there WERE battles in Africa during 2nd world war.

As Ron said, he was just making a rhyme here, and not trying to be factual. But if U. S. troops HAD been in Timbuktu, they probably would have been army, not marines.
