My much-missed friend Bruce Ennis first alerted me to how perfectly this poem described his experience of. " A small boy's notion of doing good" may not be what every man feels, probably isn't. Not macho or " confident" enough. Too bad for them. The " lake in the woods" stuff gets it exactly too.
