The Watchers Poem by Andy Wood

The Watchers

You that flew the nest and left the
Rest to fend the rising flood waters
Ought to take stock in what we, the
Supposed flock of blind idiot sons and daughters think
Of your shrinking morality in the face of
Adversity and how we hold the
Secret key of immortality in our
Will to survive the hive of exploitation
You left us with sin the master
Holding sway in a way that we thought we
Could never shift but we've torn a
Rift in the edifice and climbed
Through to the new view and
Gained a spark of hope that we
Can all find at the back of our
Mind when we grope in the dark
As you obscure the light for which
We fight in the inevitable
Struggle with our sight
Now you return as the sun scorches our
Home and we roam searching with torches
For the lost links we think can connect
Us to our last known act of
Defiance in the old days before crime
Paid for our demise and the cries of
Our children were sedated by the soma
Of your lies deadening their souls and
Closing their eyes to the great betrayal
That still defines our present lives and
Will stay until the sleepers wake and only
Then will the whole illusion fall
And new ways take shape

Very nice how this was composed. Very unique style and tasteful. I remain normally disappointed with most of the material i find that's put up on this site on a daily basis... mostly garbage from those who need to spend more time in writing rather than ironing them out to be something better. What i've read here is not the case. I love continuous streaming from line to line. Inspired, Eli
