The Void Within Me Poem by Unnikrishnan Sivasankara Menon

The Void Within Me

Rating: 5.0

rain pounds the holy earth
on every hill, mount, steppe
meadow, valley and prairie
incessant and hard
as does your body
passionate, on mine.

your red hot passions
enter my tundraic emotions
like a sirocco, or do they?
untouched, I quiver.

when your fluid effervescent love
flows into my cold nothingness,
it does not fill the void within me,
it just creates more void.

It is far better to be loved than unloved. Love is a fire that must be kept going, even rekindled at times.
