The passage - THE VERSES ENDED / FOR THE TREMBLING / IN THE LYRE'S HEART / HAD ENDED - touched me deeply. In the immediate situation of this poem it means the Poet Seer's inspiration has stopped, his composing for the time shut down. But it also locates the inner world where poetry takes place, and it is a delicate process by which subtle vibrations from this source of poetry, symbolized by the LYRE'S HEART, reach the Poet Seer who can then give voice to a poem. And so it has been for many poetic generations - and those yet to come. If a poem in bright daylight could project the shadow of its resonance, the shadow this poem casts would stretch across the Mississippi River and the double back and return to cover me in its shade! !
