The Venn From Duncannon Poem by Ros Venn

The Venn From Duncannon

I long to go back to the sea, to hear the syren's wails,
Among the elements that let me be, I would hoist the sails,
Up to where our flag flew, tis here I feel free,
There's nothing but blue, as far as the Eye can see.

I cannot swim, I fear I might drown,
It's just a whim, Water upon my crown,
The salt of the sea, it's in my blood,
What is it to be, I wish I understood.

For I am a Venn from Duncannon.
