There is a story I once dreaded to tell,
one which I now tell with regal ease.
As it's usual to take a train from one place
to another, me too, but without much thought,
took an express train which I thought
Headed yonder to the land of promise.
Yes, it did, but in a direction
contrary to my conscience and calling.
So, as it wheeled away so did I peddle astray.
There was no way to make a stop, but to jump out.
And retrace your bearing for the rest of the days.
Contrary to popular norm, that's exactly what I did.
It's been years since I jumped out,
Jumped into the unknown, a wilderness
Beautiful to behold, but dreary to experience.
Someday I'll live to tell the story in full
Yet, with all its heartaches and strain,
The wilderness is the best place I've ever been.
