The Two Of Us Poem by Judy Meibach

The Two Of Us

You and me, we
make quite a team.
I love you and
you love me.
I need you and
you need me.

Then, what is wrong with this picture?

Why are we together,
but not TOGETHER?
Why can't we hold each other,
kiss each other,
make love to each other?

Is there something wrong with this picture?

I say not,
but you do not.

I wonder why,
because we are so good
for each other.

We share common pasts,
have journeyed the same paths,
have experienced the same
hurt and heartache.

I know that we are different
in so many ways,
and many would say
we do not belong together. but
we should be focusing on our similarities and
not our differences.

We could be happy, content,
devoid of our depression.

Would that not be wonderful if
we could have that after
all of these years of
pain and misery.

We could have each other.
