COMNGRATULATIONS being chosen as The Modern Poem Of The Day. Hoorray! Most deserving!
A great poem in full excellence about the past time childhood's memories, we can interprete the poem as our own thiought. Each critic has her/his own meaning of the poem, it depends on how we read this, from which point? 5 Stars full
Beautiful poem embellished with great imagery and rhyme. Liked the closure lines. Very thought provoking.
A marvelous trip down the memory lane and revisiting childhood memoirs about snowmen shared with late father.
I wonder as to why so many people have disliked this poet,2960, as against 1677 who have liked! Some people might be deliberately doing it.
'And that snowman still stands Though my father is gone Out there in the garden Like an unmarked gravestone - Oh, what a beautiful metaphor! Blossoming into full life and then fading away is the obvious rule of nature. Anyone trying to stick around beyond stipulated time does so like an 'unmarked gravestone'.
I just returned from reading the comments below on this poem. There are some very heavy thinkers among us and some very original commentators- -yea! ! ! for the members of PH- -continue sharing your views with the rest of us despite the presence of egomaniacal trolls who occasionally show up! ! ! Thank you all.
The fun and then the powerful image of life's every movement as time goes by and we all 'fade away'
So that snowman still stands like an unmarked gravestone.....very thought provoking poem. Not in tune with time everything stands out of place.
Looks like there should be a comma, not a period, after the 6th stanza. That set aside, this poem speaks simply and poignantly about the passage of time from the perspective of us in our latter years, including the folly of trying to hold on when there will be new beauty, new wonders to engage us. -GK
