The Town's Ex Wealthiest Person Poem by Francis Duggan

The Town's Ex Wealthiest Person

The town's ex wealthiest person lay in eternal repose
But then such is life one would have to suppose
His widow in her late forties more than a decade past her life's prime
And their adult son and daughter on his fortune enjoying a good time
Three years ago at his funeral they were in tears
But their sense of loss lessened in a few years
His widow does have a new man in her life
And very soon she is to become his wife
Quite mean with his money when he was alive
For to be the World's wealthiest person he did strive
But in his early fifties cancer struck him down
Money did not save the former wealthiest person of the town
Money speaks every language it does seem this way
Though to the town's former wealthiest person it is of no use where he is today.
