The Tigress And The Night Poem by jewel mazhar

The tigress keeps on calling me
in this night of full moon.


I beg her, ‘‘Have mercy, don't devour me please! ,
I am a poor creature- too tiny to eat.''


The tigress felt some pity, grabbed me in her claws.
Then after some thought fell asleep
I don't know what.


''This is my chance.''- I thought,
slipped from her grip and crawled out
beyond her roars.
Stealthily I sneaked into the forest's rim,
into an abandoned cave of slumber.



'' Her teeth, claws and scratches of amorous love
won't get me again.''- - I thought.


‘‘ Here I am safe, I think, under the hidden chamber of an womb.''


By rubbing Bisalyakarani, the mythical healing herb,
on my bruised thighs and groin
and on blood-stained lips, I hope
I shall get myself back, the unmolested.
And her amorous attacks would end at last!


But, alas! The tigress chased me in every dream.
glaring phosphorus in her indignant eyes,
crossing the frontier-river with a giant single leap
before me she appeared like from the blue.
Standing on two dreadful hind legs
instantly grabbing she placed me on her lap;


Then very slowly and steadily she kissed,
stuck her claws and sharp canine teeth
into my throat and neck and lips.



In her fire-crater she roasted me to make her tasty night kebob.



At predawn hour under the the drunken moon
an ambulance rushed to get me to a hospital.

।।রাত্রি ও বাঘিনী।।


বাঘিনী আমারে শুধু ডেকে চলে ভরা পূর্ণিমায়;


বারবার কাতর মিনতি করে আমি তারে বলি:
দয়া করো, আমায় খেয়ো না, আমি
অসহায় অতি ছোটো জীব




বাঘিনী করুণা করে, আমাকে থাবায় পুরে কি ভেবে
ঘুমিয়ে পড়ে। এ-সুযোগে আমি তার মুঠো গ'লে নামি



বুকে হেঁটে-হেঁটে তার গর্জনের সীমানা পেরোই
সন্তর্পণে ঢুকি পড়ি বনপ্রান্তে, পরিত্যক্ত ঘুমের গুহায়


ভাবি, বাঁচা গেল! ভাবি, আমাকে পাবে না আর তার
দাঁত-নখ, অত্যধিক প্রেমের আঁচড়।
অবশেষে এ-গর্ভগৃহের ছায়ায় বসে আমি নিরাপদ!


থ্যাঁতলানো অণ্ড-শিশ্ন, কালশিটে ঊরু ও জঘন, আর,
এই দুটি রক্তমাখা ঠোঁটে বিশল্যকরণী ঘষে ফিরে পাবো


আমাকে পাবে না আর বাঘিনীর অতিরিক্ত রতি-আক্রমণ!



কিন্তু হায়, প্রতিবারই স্বপ্নে বাঘিনী তবু পিছু নেয়;
তীব্র চোখে ফসফরাস জ্বেলে
এক লাফে সীমান্তের নদীটি পেরিয়ে
অতর্কিতে সামনে আসে;
ভয়ানক দু'পায়ে দাঁড়ায়, আর
দু'বাহু বাড়িয়ে তার সে আমাকে কোলে তুলে নেয়;


ধীরে ধীরে চুমু খায়, ঠোঁটে ও গলায় তার দাঁত-নখ গেঁথে রক্ত চাটে
বেপরোয়া জ্বালামুখে আমাকে পুড়িয়ে শুধু কাবাব বানায়


শেষ রাতে মাতাল চাঁদের নিচে অ্যাম্বুলেন্স এসে
আমাকে উদ্ধার করে দ্রুত কোনো হাসপাতালে ছোটে
