The Sunnyside Of Nowhere Poem by Kevin Patrick II

The Sunnyside Of Nowhere

Sweeping up the pieces of another broken day
Trying to find my center that never seems to stay
Folding up the dominos when all my dreams just fall
Carrying the baggage from all the years that never call

Never had a friendship where I didn't turn into a ghost
A lover who just saw me as their band aid or their roast
Sold my stock in people when the cost of trust proved high
Then drywalled my emotions when my voice was being fried

Broke up with my Faith when she cheated on my logic
Unsubscribed to love when the pain became to chronic
Found out happiness comes with a hidden finders fee
So never pay the bill and you will live this world rent free

I'm driving down the side roads where no one ever goes
Watching the passing scenery everyone ignores
Escaping the pollution of the human condition
The hustle and the muzzle of societies perdition

Now I'm going on a road in which there's no return
Heading through the darkness but I wont attract sunburns
Looking for a place where my destinations bound
Somewhere I can live and my peace of mind is found

Far away from this world, where heaven lives in hell
A place where survival isn't a living in debts spell
Where its never a crime to be the person who I am
And I'm not trapped as a lead in the role as a sham

I'm looking for a home on the Sunnyside of nowhere
Where people never roam and my days are not ensnared
And the grass is always green and the fields are gold
And there never is a wolf who is hiding in the fold

On the Sunnyside of nowhere that's where I want to be
Where the noise of the city can never ever hunt me
And you never have to chase the need to own the world
When wealth is your own meaning the present is life's pearl
