The Summer Shenanigans Poem by Safiyyah Manjra

The Summer Shenanigans

Rating: 5.0

Yes I graduated with a good GPA.
I am now on my way.
To travel to China and the U.K.

Will you come with me?
To keep me company.

I will be in the United Kingdom,
With little freedom.

I am staying with some old folks.
Who are from my mom side of the family.

I hope they find me pleasing.
My personality loving.

I hope they let me be free,
Explore all there is to see.

I hope they let me leave the house.
Not be cooped up with nothing to lose.

Yes I know I am Muslim,
The world isn't fond of the religion I am in.
Matters of the heart remain in reign.

I have friends in Cambridge and my supervisor at University College London,
Maybe visit Imperial,
Take a train to somewhere rural.

I am from the Caribbean,
I beg of you don't trap me in a house with nowhere to run.

I want to visit Camden market,
Go to the pub and order non-alcoholic.

I want to visit the park.
Sit next to a lonely old folk and talk.

I want to be immersed in the activities of London.
Explore till everything wrapped is undone.
