I clicked on this poem because it reminded me of one of my favorite songs STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN by Led Zeppelin, the only song by that group I've ever listened to but it's a masterpiece of music, poetry and sheer wonder. It seems to focus on a deluded woman (She thinks all that glitters is gold - which is a quotation from THE MERCHANT OF VENICE) who thinks she can buy her into heaven. Your poem is about the stairs as a threshold which is seemingly endless, but it is meant to be climbed by human beings. This gives me hope that even I, just an ordinary man, will be able to reach the empyrean in my time!
