The Soul And I Poem by Nusrat Perveen

The Soul And I

Let me go, the soul cried,
It's tough to withhold, so let me fly,
Why with you should I be?
When all you do is hide me.
You are dying in your wretched body,
The soul shan't die so set me free.
I tried hard to pull you together,
Alas! all in vain,
You lie at the end of your tether,
a captive of thy pain.
Shut your eyes and mourn your woes,
For, no light of solace lines the horizon.
Don't give up on me 'O' my soul,
I cried again,
I am too withered to let you go,
too petrified to walk alone...!
