The Song Of Life: 20. What Use Your Lamentation?
Bodiless all beings ere birth and breath,
So too upon disease and death,
Bearing body in between,
What use losing your faith?
What use lamenting so mean?|| 2.28 ||
Here is the transliteration with the meanings of Sanskrit words:
avyakta ādīni bhūtāni vyakta madhyāni bhārata |
avyakta nidhanāni eva tatra kā paridevanā ||2.28 ||
a-vyakta-: unmanifest (to human senses) , without a body; ādīni: in the beginning, before the birth, (also, in the past): bhūtāni: beings, creatures; vyakta-: manifest, with a body; madhyāni: in-between, in the middle (after birth and befor death): bhārata: O descendant of Bharata, Arjun; a-vyakta-nidhanāni: unmanifest (without a body)after the death; eva: indeed, again; tatra:there, in that case; kā: what (use) ? paridevanā: lamentation, complaining
You have so nicely translated in English the Sanskrit Shloka from Geeta " avyakta ādīni bhūtāni vyakta madhyāni bhārata | avyakta nidhanāni eva tatra kā paridevanā ||2.28 || This shloka says that a being is bodiless before birth and after death. Hence no one should have lamentation. Nice presentation. Thanks for sharing.
