Your poem may not be sad, but it brings tears to my eyes. I think, here is a man who understands. Here is a man I would be proud to call my friend. Your English may not be perfect, but neither is mine and I am a native speaker. However, your words speak clearly, for your perfection my new friend (I hope) , is in the heart that you reveal without inhibition in this poem. I too am a 'small farmer' in the US but of 4,000 acres not the half acre you speak of. When my father was alive, he, his farmer partner, and their clients together comprised a tillable farm in South Dakota (almost no pasture) of more than 10,000 acres if you can believe it. Just one or our fields (we called 'the meadow') was 4 miles long and 1 mile wide. Even with the largest tractors of that time, it took almost two hours to drive around its perimeter once. I have also had experience raising cattle but on other farms in Oklahoma where I was born. Your half acre of land and your joy in it remind me of Ghandi, who I surmise is also your friend, if only in spirit. As you can see in my biography posted on Poemhunter, I am also a technically educated man that has returned to the land and farming, though I did everything I could to escape this life when I was a youth. We have much in common it seems, including a love of poetry. I look forward to reading more of your work.
I feel proud of you. When you said you are also educated and not an illiterate as the other farmers do. I feel proud for you since you are proud with farming which one the noblest job we do.You love and enjoy the nature along with the farming what you do I regard you for what you really do.
