I know that program on Guernica by Simon Schama, the first in his series. There should MORE PROGRAMS of such high quality on TV! Schama was able to get to the roots of this painting and show its evolution and the reasons behind its fame. Referring to it in the last line of your evocation of the end of the holiday season has the effect of pushing into the REST OF THE YEAR. The special occasion is over, only the packing and storing of holiday items is left to be done. There's a melancholy - understated but genuine - awareness of the passage of time in our lives that runs through your poem. The mood is intimate and tender. A fine poem of memories being made.
