The Silent Cage Poem by Anitha Vijayakumar

The Silent Cage

Rating: 5.0

In a house of mirrors, I walk alone,
Bound by vows that turned to stone.
The laughter fades, the echoes stay,
A shadowed path where dreams decay.

The world applauds the painted smile,
Yet my heart whispers all the while:
"Break the chain, flee the lie,
Find the sky where souls can fly."

A gilded cage, though bright, still binds,
Its beauty hides the fractured lines.
Each sigh a song of muted plea,
For winds to come and set me free.

Yet whispers warn of shattered ties,
Of judgment cast from watching eyes.
The weight of names, the pull of kin,
The war within, I cannot win.

But oh, if courage found my hand,
I'd cast away this shifting sand.
To walk alone, to start anew,
To chase the dawn, to find what's true.

For freedom's call, though soft, is clear,
It hums through every silent tear.
One day, perhaps, I'll heed its cry,
And leave this cage for open sky.
