Our English teacher was a bit of a devil for making us learn epic poems at Wallsend Grammar School in the late 1940's. I managed quite a bit of this one, but didn't quite make it in full. But it's nice to read it over again to refresh my memory. It's a very graphic poem, and you can almost feel the sweat running down your forehead when you read it. Get me a drink of water somebody!
