We as human beings spend all our lives trying to understand what we actually are. Your poem is a 'charming' (Should I use that word? Well, you alluded to Orpheus) take on that fundamental conundrum of human existence - at the end of the day, who we really are? A very well crafted poem, Mr. Brick. Thank you for sharing it.
dreams fascinate me, daniel. and i've written several poems reporting on what i remember of them. i myself don't have a fix on them—they vary so widely. one obvious category is of desires illustrated in a wonky and sometimes circuslike dream landscape. i've had one prophetic dream. and then there are a bunch that i can't categorize. among these i treasure ones that lift my spirits, like dolphin dream or i was visited. -glen
