I don't know how it came about, but for some reason this poem reminds me that we have to know somebody loves us for ourselves, before we can love ourselves, and be comfortable (even when all alone) with ourselves; only then can we detach enough from our neediness to be able to be fully present in our surroundings; at ease with ourselves, and then let the things around us teach us; speak to us; the sand and the beach and the ocean and the waves; and yes, even gulls can teach us a thing or two. I love this great writing. Glad to have met you here.
