While I agree with many points Lewis Carroll makes about unpleasant aspects of the sea, I do not agree with his 3rd stanza of this poem. I fall asleep nightly to the sound of ocean waves, and find it to be a soothing, peaceful sound. Quite unlike a beaten dog!

" It is pleasant and dreamy, no doubt, to float with thoughts as boundless and souls as free" . Excellent conceptualization in a lovely poem in awe of sea.

Nice poem I try the rocks, and I think it cool That they laugh with such an excess of glee, As I heavily slip into every pool, That skirts the cold, cold SEA.
