The Ruben Amorim Way Poem by Saul Kamionsky

The Ruben Amorim Way

From success to failure
Winning with Sporting
Now losing in Manchester

Touted
one of the brightest coaches
Now derided
hopeless

Let me be clear:
I have one idea
of how to play football
Why would I change?
The bird always has the same call.
It's the way I see football

This club is like an airport terminal
Rashford and Casemiro were flying to America
Heaven arrived from Arsenal
Dorgu came from Lecce

I said goodbye to Malacia,
Anthony and Rashford.
I couldn't get the latter
to do things
My way

I would rather select a pensioner
in place of a sluggish player

I'm not a complainer

I know Rooney says I'm naïve
but I want to win the league

I take the flack
Fear not the sack
and gel my hair back

I've lost more than I've won
No fun

Gone 8 games without a victory
Disappointing
For a Manchester United coach,
Embarrassing

We are maybe the worst team
in the club's history

A chance to redeem?
The Europa League it would seem

We reached the final
Victory was vital
Spurs posed trouble

Big Ange
proved too heavy to sleigh
To my dismay

Now I have nothing to show the fans

United may decree
The end of the road for me

But at least I can say,
I did it my way
