The Roads Almost Taken

THE ROADS ALMOST TAKEN

The what ifs, the could-have-beens,
the roads almost taken—
life's delays and quiet forces
turn us without asking.

We decide, or think we do.
We arrive at a destination
only after countless crossroads,
and junctions of confusions.

Life pauses, it redirects
And the 'what if' lingers.
The 'could have beens' are close by
and after much deliberation
eventually we arrive,
after being lost for a while

we stamp our feet
to a road, we commit
and there is no going back ..
only getting by.

Yet, we remember
The roads almost taken
either with resolve
or quiet disdain

still we trod
on our path ahead
eyes bright on the future
and far behind
are the roads almost taken
