The Road Of My Life Poem by Randy McClave

The Road Of My Life

I was driving on the road of life
And all that I noticed was my pain and strife,
And then when I looked to my right and left
All that I saw was sadness and bereft.
Then when another mile that I went
I told my soul that I should really repent,
I didn't like what I was seeing
So, I smashed on my gas pedal and I began fleeing.
I then saw how I wasn't getting any better
And how unto greed and lies I became a debtor,
Then I hurriedly went a few more miles
But, I didn't hear any laughter or saw any smiles.
I then saw drugs and cheating and a lot of beer
And I didn't see any joyfulness or cheer,
And the more that I drove the more I began to look
I didn't even see Jesus, or even the Holy Book.
Then I started speeding and I began to cry
I knew soon that I would crash and then I would die,
The scenery that I saw didn't suit we well
It made me feel as though I was going straight to Hell.
I then looked to my left and then to my right
And all that I saw was more sin and fright,
I then felt as though I was living a curse
Then I found out, that I was driving in reverse.
