The Replacement Poem by Safiyyah Manjra

The Replacement

For the eyes we had for each other that were never met.
For all the days that go by without saying "hi."

For the moments we keep to ourselves,
Not knowing which lie sells.

The truth we feel,
For the lies, we seal.
What a silly deal!

If only we could read hearts easily.
Reading minds is becoming silly.

I am not one to say.
I am too strangled at this dismay.

Will you forgive my shortcomings?
Trying to replace you isn't an easy forthcoming.

There is no one to compare.
Leaves me with a dark glare.

This shadow needs light,
Without it, there is darkness with blight.
