The Princess And The Dragon Comments

The dragon boiled his attackers in their chain-mail, .......this almost sent a shiver up my spine. reminds me of an account of the use of flamethrowers on Iwo Jima during World War 2, by the americans and japanese military, against one another. yuck! And crushed them beneath his feet, like one does a lazy snail..........just because snails are slow, it does not mean they are lazy! ! ! ;) this is one of my favorite stanzas of all poems i've ever read: Defeated, devastated, trying to save his hide, With his dying breath and still in pride, 'No man can slay me', says the dragon 'Yes you are right, I am a woman' ....................did you think of this yourself! or did a woman help you? .................................................................Perhaps Mike Smith was looking over your shoulder? the last line actually made me laugh loudly! to MyPoemList bri :)

Love the twist at the end. A very well told narrative of an attempt and eventual victory at slaying an evil dragon. There is a line me much like the final two of this poem found in the third book of J.R.R. Tolkein's trilogy in which the princess of Rohan dresses up like a warrior in order to join in on a battle. She is told by an evil wraith while defending her father the king 'fool, no man can slay me'. To which she replies I am no man and slays him. Great write Ayman
