True. Human nature. We tend to honour people, posthumously.5*
This needs to change. Poem Hunter is accelerating that change. Poet Menon, THX so much for the top score.
Such high praise from one of my favourite poets is indeed an honour. THX so much, Anjandev.
Penned with deep contemplation. Top score for this priceless poem and to my favourite as well
In the case of Van Gogh, his art gained much popularity after his time but there are many, many artistes whose art remains buried along with the artiste.
I've known this for quite some time, but only, in the twilight years have I fully explored this reality. One of the great advantages of the internet. If I ever win the lottery, I will donate a significant amount to Wikipedia! It's absolutely amazing!
So true of artistes. Dear Richard, this poem perfectly fits Vincent Van Gogh's life and art. While he lived, his work was unknown but after he died, he became a celebrtiy.
Dear Geeta, as I was writing this succinct poem, I was reflecting on your masterful series and thinking about the song VINCENT. The result from both produced this humble work. THX so much for the inspiration.
Very poignant situation in the life of an artiste or thereafter. Thanks.
Yes indeed, Rajnish. So very sad to witness so many artistes not receiving the recognition that they had truly deserved until after their death. Van Gogh was a perfect example!
2) Great to see you again! All The Best To You And Your Family In 2023! Take care, my friend!
THX for being the 1st to read and comment, Poet Panda. Greatly appreciated!
So true, so true and how sad it is when those so meritorious are not while alive recognized for their genius and personal talent. Your poem expresses this so very well! Great piece!
That's the beauty of a platform like Poem Hunter. It's home to the recognition of talent from the past and present. Susan, THX so much for your observations and very positive response to my poem.
