I LOVE the contrasting natures of the first two stanzas, in my mind (no pun intent) its signifying the inherent duality of human mental capacity, between the vast searing horizons of dreams and ambitions, and the crashing inferno tombs of our fears and nightmares. The mind can be a haven or a cage, as you so eloquently put it. Then in the last stanza you unite the theme by telling the reader it is our choice to make a heaven or a.

Bhagavad-Gita says: Thou art thine friend, thou art thine foe; Lift up thyself with thine self, never underestimate thyself. The self in question can be the man's persona, the ego, or if the Higher Self, the soul or atman. The poem touches on these aspects beautifully.
