The Poet Who Has Never Been? Poem by Terence George Craddock

The Poet Who Has Never Been?

I am the poet who has never been
disappearing back into invisibility
timeless dust

beware the Ides
of March I shall toss
a coin heads tails

the flight of a coin
will determine
the total deleting

or not deleting
of all poems
I wrote

since returning
to New Zealand
perhaps

beginning
a debate
did I or did I not write

any poetry
after leaving
Indonesia... Jakarta

poems are still written
a particularly good one
on wisdom and maturity

a few days ago
but they will not
leave my head

in this cold
winter I have turned
my head

and
shoulder against
posting
