The Plaint Of The Stomach Poem by Prem Nizar Hameed

The Plaint Of The Stomach

The stomach wonders at the contents:
"Chappathi with Coconut Chutney and Mayonnaise
Dosa with Omlet, Cornflakes and French fries
Chilly chicken with Idli, Butter, Jam and Fish fingers
Crab meat with Cheese and Shrimps in Veg. soup
And many more Starters, Sizzlers, Grilled etc etc
What an incongruous combination!
How can I make an easy process of digestion, yaar? "
The stomach complains to the throat in an e-mail.

At the same time the helpless throat,
Suffering from a sore due to the transfer
Of such a heavy load of food to the stomach,
Coughs a little bit and asks the stomach to register
A whatsApp complaint to the mouth,
The gateway of the destination of embarkation

The mouth, after a short and careless chewing,
Starts yawning by then, however replies as follows:
"The contents are not despatched in bulk quantities,
But are separated and sent set by set in accordance
With the local and intercontinental recipe systems;
Your untidy cargo yard may have clogged the contents
In order to exaggerate your myopic vision"
The mouth also adds an emoticon of ‘shushing face' in the reply;
Reading such a sarcastic and indigestible reply,
The stomach gets upset!

The hands and the mouth, which appease the taste buds
At the expense of appetite with ten fingers and many a tooth,
Nicely get cleaned by water and flossing;
Later, the very hands blame the stomach somewhere,
In the leave letter it writes: upset stomach;
In all welfare conversations, friendly or officially,
The mouth accuses the innocent stomach of its upset.
Without knowing the fact, the head ache, the heartburn
The gas forming unit and other associates nod in agreement.

Losing the last drop of its patience,
But still maintaining the solidarity of the Enzymes,
The stomach is finally forced to call a press meet
In order to revive the old piece of advice:
"Eat to live, not live to eat please…,
I mean if there is no discipline in the diet,
How long can I resist not to get upset! "
