The Place I'Ve Been Poem by Alyssa Marquardt

The Place I'Ve Been

Pink sun and dark shadows
Against white waters.
Tall trees
sway slowly in the wind.
That's the place I've been.

Where dark waters
rush through rocks.
And tires skid
through muddy spots.

Children run through fields.
Of the brightest green.
Where violence is not.
The most popular scene.

Children can run and play,
without a fear.
Teens can fall asleep,
without drounding in tears.

Where death is caused by old age.
And the world does not,
revolve around rage.
Where the thought of ending
your own life,
Would never cross anyone's mind.

Where people can rise above the water.
Without drounding the ones they love.
Where people can get high.
Without a life threatning drug.

Where the innocent look
In a child's eye.
Stays with us throughout our lives.

Everyone is valued
for exactly who they are.
And everyone is someone else's
northern star.

The moon reflecting off that lake,
Is the symbol of our peace.
And people give before they take.

This is the world I dream of each night.
Before I wake up to the fright,
of the real world.

This is where I go
When I space out in class,
Or pick up my pen.

This is the place I've been.

Wonderful poem, some soothing, idealistic imagery here... Thankyou for sharing.
