Absolutely agree...it is remarkable (oerhaos?) how often we return to those debased ethics. No doubt such practices preceded the Bard, and no doubt they will happen again and again many centuries from now. Thanks so much for reading.
Profound write. "…saw greed in his deed….recognised there was poison in his passion" something we find around us in every walk of life… these lines sum up the mood of the poem…

Shakespeare, Joyce and Cohen would all be proud! As I read it a couple of times, mystery poet was coming to mind. And then he faded into the recesses of my mind.
