The Orange Man Poem by Raimi Babatunde

The Orange Man

Whatever you do
Be the best
Never back down
Be like Pierluigi Collina
The best version of his kind
Be the best version of yours

Respected and revered
With him, "No nonsense here"
He refereed 373 games
Dished 1204 yellow cards
And 111 reddies
For players, a beautiful nightmare he was
He was, "The Orange Man"

He survived alopecia at 10
This is a story of our legend
A legend of the round leather
What seemed a tragedy
Became a trademark
How God turns a mess to a message

For the lovers of soccer
I hope this evokes some momentoes
Those that helped sharpen our yesterday
The only sports that brings us together
The wars stopped for a moment of football
Football, the love of our life

If you can only be articulate
Diligent and determined like Pierluigi
He was a legend of the 90's
He is still a legend of today
Life will throw darts at you
Stand your ground, be like Collina
