The Nut House Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

The Nut House

Rating: 5.0

If it doesn't work out,
Why stay with it.
To pretend it can be fixed.
Like those in relationships.
Who are in them for the image.
Hoping not to feel themselves to be,
Considered abnormal.
And gossiped about.

These days new categories are added,
To describe one's sexual preference.
And the kind of relationship,
That is sought to seek and keep.
Leaving behind what was thought normal,
Fast becoming a myth.
And a practice told by those,
Whose interests are in studying...
Ancient history.
Telling children with eyes wide open,
"There was a time when one man...
With one woman having sex.
Were called heterosexuals.
And this was considered,
A normal way to live life."

-Wow! I can not imagine myself,
Growing up...
Without having either two mothers,
Or two fathers.
And messed up in the head,
Sisters and brothers.-

"Well...
Remember,
Somethings have remained the same.
Today people like that are referred as...
'Having special needs'."

-Both my fathers had an argument.
Yep!
One was trying to tell me,
The Nut House had once been called...
The White House.
Then after a couple of years,
This crazy guy took over.
And made everybody 'nuts'.
Is that true? -

If it doesn't work out.
Why stay with it.
To pretend it can be fixed.
Like those in relationships.
Who are in them for the image.
Hoping not to feel themselves to be,
Considered abnormal.
And gossiped about.
