The New Eden (Adam's Lamentations) Poem by chize ryan ogunkah

The New Eden (Adam's Lamentations)

My once exposed shame
shrouded in a fallen visibility
with divine love upstaged by morbid hate
covered in tatters of a doomed fate
and from a throne of grace falling
to the earth of grass and tilling
for a morsel to nurture tomorrow
and assuage the loss of divine dignity

I was the Maker's preferred
Before I was gullibly referred
By my supposed helpmeet
To an enchanting curse
Dangling from a forbidden tree
Promising a life of wisdom
To permeate the Maker's freedom
And be deified therefrom
to rub shoulders with Him
that is personified Wisdom
A bite from the tree
Put a chasm and exposed my destiny
To the poisonous bite
from the slithering deceiver
But

The heart of grace
Descended from His throne
To bridge the chasm
Between guilt and grace
He chose my guilt and pain
In spite of a choice to refrain
From hanging on the cursed tree
To redeeming my seed to be free.
Now, My deserving exposed guilt
Of which I am to pay
Is now covered in grace
And the old Eden erased
By a new Eden of grace
