The Needs Of Weeds Comments

Yeah sometimes Dominic a writer albeit poet/poetess, any writer of whatever needs to go against the soft easy route grain, against established conformity. To pick up writing's/ poetry's 'golden rules' and not just bend or merely break them, but to smash them to smithereens. To obliterate them. Kevin Patrick thank you for kind and most generous comment and yes, weeds are important to every ecosystem. For at the museum where I work we have a natural wild garden. Which is beautifully unique in its own way and attracts many of wildlife's critters. So yes even nature's wild weeds play their part. A big part. Thanks again and take care man.

Highly original poem Shaun..and a great counter to the infinite number of poems about flowers. I really like your ending and your reference to the Day of The Triffids. I think we share a love of sci fi which we both like to write about from time to time. It's a 'these weeds look like Triffids! ' inspired ten from me!

I don't think its a wrong choice, flowers are a cliche unless done something original, weeds are still essential to ecosystems man is blindbto their beauty. A lovely poem!
