Dad, it's Christmas
And the nativity scene has not been pulled
Out from the bed
I don't feel like setting it up this year
Because it has been a terrible one
But I think I need to
For it reminds me of yr smile
How joyous you were; just looking at it
My heart drops and breaks
Because you are not here to celebrate with us
You really loved Christmas
And I never saw you not smile
Or ever get mad when you just got
Socks and underwear
You always loved singing
'Santa Claus is coming to Town' off key
And you would dance like you had two left feet
These memories break me into laughter
Every time I think about them
But the celebration hasn't been joyous since you left
As I continue to mourn the loss
Remembrance is harder at this time of the year
Because you made it fun
And the dread I feel falls on me like a tear
Memory of you wipes it away
A lovely poem so delicately expressed! How costly is the smile of this poem? Priceless!
A heart rendering work, its painful to read as I relate to this, the first year my grandfather passed it was difficult not having him their. Yet in their loss, their is a memory of happiness that will always reside that I had him and it still lives on. You bare all in this poem and its conveyed with true human love. Just to note I just started singing Santa Clause is coming to town, REALLY off key!

I would like to translate this poem
Memories of a departed dear one is really painful. But again, "Memories of you wipes it (the tears) away"… poignant, but quite endearing.5*
