The Musical Creature
Ontop of the highest treetops
In the Amazon rain forests
Sits a male White Bellbird
Singing its heart out
For a female mate
A mile away...
The arresting bird call is made
From far far away at first
Then close-up as rehearsed
To the jade green female
When his back is turned
With a screaming note...
His female love now hides
As he twirls in front of her
Screaming his birdsong
Like a deafening whistle
From a blaring foghorn
And then she is torn...
Should she stay with him
Even though he sings
Horribly like a rooster
At the crack of dawn?
Or should she pretend
She's deaf 'n move on?
These are some questions
Such birds ask themselves
Through mating songs...
However, truly its no use
Because he's NO Marvin Gaye...
Singing: 'Let's Get it On...'
'Let's Get it On...'
'Let's Get it On...'
